His research analyzes migration patterns across the Soviet-Romanian border (1929–1940), utilizing archival sources and ego documents. This includes studying Romanian authorities' ambivalent treatment of Holodomor refugees, their role in anti-Communist propaganda, and the paradoxical perception of refugees as both allies and security threats. His recent publications explore these themes through case studies of Bessarabian refugees and individual narratives like Mihail Porohovski.
The articles highlight interdisciplinary approaches blending migration history, intelligence studies, and diplomatic analysis. Keywords span Holocaust Studies, Eastern European Nationalism, and Soviet Borderlands, with sub-fields addressing propaganda mechanisms, statelessness, and transnational solidarity.
- Ernst Mach worldwide scholarship (2023–2024)
- Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies grants (2021–2022)
- Emergency grant at Osteuropa Institut Berlin (2022)
He has contributed to the DIMAS Leibniz Science Campus and the Graduate School for East and Southeast European Studies. His work intersects with teams like Researchers Facing Autocracy at CEU, emphasizing academic resilience in conflict contexts.
