Makram Abbès

Makram Abbès is a Professor of political philosophy at the École Normale Supérieure de Lyon (ENS Lyon), where he has been teaching since 2002 and became a full professor in 2015. He is also a member of the UMR 5206 Triangle research unit and participates in the jihad research group led by Daniel Rivet at the Institute for the Study of Islam and Muslim Societies (IISMM – EHESS).

Abbès specializes in political philosophy with a focus on Islamic political thought. His research interests include:

• The political thought of scholars and jurists of the medieval period
• Andalusian political philosophy
• Philosophy of Farabi, Avempace, and Averroes
