Maja Muhic

Maja Muhic is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Languages, Cultures and Communication at South East European University. With a PhD in Philosophy (Cultural Anthropology) from Ss Cyril and Methodius University, she holds advanced degrees in Gender and Culture (CEU, 2002), Social Anthropology (University of Cambridge, 2001), and BA in Philosophy (Ss Cyril and Methodius, 1998).

Her research spans cultural anthropology, feminist epistemology, intercultural education, and national identity formation. She has published extensively on topics including Balkan representation in travel writing, multiculturalism in North Macedonia, and feminist critiques of androcentric bias in academia.

Recent publications examine intercultural education frameworks (2024), violent extremism prevention (2023), and intersectional analyses of gender and cultural narratives (2022-2019). Her work connects anthropological theory with contemporary policy debates in European and non-EU contexts.

Professional experience since 2003 at South East European University includes curriculum development, quality assurance, and teaching courses on ethics, public speaking, and cultural representation. She previously served as a teacher at NOVA High Schools and worked as a translator/media analyst at NATO Press Centre.
