Dr. Maithili Sashindranath is an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow and Deputy Lab Head of the Vascular Biology Group at the Australian Centre for Blood Diseases, Monash University. She leads a research team focused on improving outcomes in small vessel thrombosis and ischemic stroke, with over 15 years of expertise in neuroscience and vascular biology.

Her research spans stroke, brain injury, endothelial biology, thrombosis, and inflammation, with a focus on CD39-targeted therapies. She also engages in interdisciplinary work involving AI applications in dermatology and medical imaging. Her recent publications highlight neuroprotection in ischemia, AI-driven skin lesion classification, and multi-task learning models for clinical translation.
Her work has been recognized with multiple awards, including:

She is Deputy Chair of the Monash School of Translational Medicine's Gender Equity and Diversity Committee and promotes STEM education in primary schools, particularly for girls.
