Mait Kriipsalu

Mait Kriipsalu is a Professor in the Chair of Rural Building and Water Management at the Institute of Forestry and Engineering, Estonian University of Life Sciences. His research focuses on waste management, landfill mining, circular economy, and water conservation. He has led numerous projects on landfill remediation, biogas production, and resource recovery from waste streams.

His recent work explores methane mitigation via biocover systems, compost nutrient dynamics, and nanocomposite water treatment. Key sub-fields include ecosystem service recovery, beach wrack bioenergy, and fine fraction ecotoxicity. He emphasizes interdisciplinary alignment and sustainable resource valorization.
