Alicja Kupczyk

Alicja Kupczyk serves as an Assistant lecturer at the Department of Environmental Engineering Technology, Gdańsk University of Technology, specializing in sustainable coastal waste management and water resource systems.

Her research spans Environmental Engineering, Waste Management, and Nature-Based Solutions with emphasis on Baltic Sea ecosystems. She investigates practical applications of reed bed systems for beach wrack dewatering and stabilization, alongside resource conversion strategies for marine organic waste. Her work bridges theoretical environmental science with actionable coastal management frameworks.

Publication trends reveal consistent focus on circular economy approaches for coastal organic waste. The 2025 pilot study demonstrates technical innovation in reed bed treatment systems, while the 2021 overview establishes foundational principles for beach wrack valorization across Baltic jurisdictions. Ms. Kupczyk actively contributes to two major EU-funded initiatives: WaterMan (European Territorial Cooperation 2021-2027, #C017) promoting water reuse capacity building since January 2023, and NICE (Horizon 2020, 101003765) developing nature-based urban water cycle solutions since May 2021. Both projects operate under Prof. Magdalena Gajewska's leadership within her department, reflecting her integration into transnational environmental research networks.
