University of Pittsburghمعرفی
Dr. Mairobys Socorro Gonzalez is a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, specifically in the Department of Oral and Craniofacial Sciences and the Center for Craniofacial Regeneration. She holds dual degrees (DDS and PhD) from Venezuelan institutions and joined Pitt in 2018. Her research focuses on genetic determinants of dental tissue mineralization, particularly how transcription factors like Trps1 influence caries susceptibility and skeletal/dental tissue formation. She also investigates temporomandibular joint disorders and biomaterial applications in surgical repair.
Education:
- Universidad del Zulia, Venezuela (2000)
- Universidad Central de Venezuela, Venezuela (2016)
Research Interests: Her work combines molecular biology and clinical dentistry to uncover mechanisms behind developmental defects in mineralization. Key areas include:
- Genetic regulation of dental caries
- Trps1 transcription factor pathways
- Mineralization-regulating proteins
- TMJ disc regeneration strategies
Publications: Over 12 peer-reviewed articles since 2013, with recent focus on Trps1 deficiencies in cementogenesis, goat models for TMJ repair, and pancreatic cell differentiation. Her work spans dentistry, bone biology, and metabolic research.
Labs/Teams: Collaborates within Dr. Almarza's lab and the Center for Craniofacial Regeneration at Pitt. Engages in interdisciplinary studies combining molecular biology, biomaterials, and clinical applications.
