Mainak Majumder is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Engineering at Monash University, affiliated with both the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering and Chemical & Biological Engineering. His research focuses on advanced materials for energy storage systems, including graphene-based nanomaterials, electrochemical energy storage technologies, and nanofluidics.
Key projects include:
- Graphene oxide–polysaccharide composites for advanced applications (2025–2028)
- Affordable solar-thermal desalination using nanomaterials (2024–2027)
- Novel 2D photoactive graphene-based materials for chemical manufacture (2024–2027)
- Enabling the lithium economy through value-added products (2024–2025)
Research interests span MXene-based sodium-ion batteries, polymer-iodine complexes in lithium-sulfur batteries, and nanoscale electrocatalytic reactions. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to affordable and clean energy, and sustainable industrial practices.
Recent publications highlight innovations in graphene oxide membranes for PFAS removal, chipless RFID strain sensors, and high-performance zinc-air batteries. Collaborations include institutions globally, focusing on nanomaterials, energy storage systems, and environmental applications.
