Dr. Mahsa Dadar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at McGill University and a Researcher at the Douglas Research Centre. Her work focuses on cerebrovascular pathology's role in aging and neurodegenerative diseases, with a lab specializing in Aging, Cerebrovascular, and Neurodegenerative Disorders under the Aging, Cognition, and Alzheimer’s Disease theme.
- BSc and MSc in Electrical Engineering (University of Tehran, Concordia University)
- PhD in Biomedical Engineering (McGill University)
Her research integrates neuroimaging and machine learning to study white matter hyperintensities, neurodegeneration, and cognitive decline across Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and frontotemporal dementia. She also investigates lifestyle and environmental impacts on brain health.
Recent publications highlight themes in neuroimaging, machine learning applications, and white matter pathology across aging and neurodegenerative conditions. Collaborative efforts include ex vivo MRI-histology integration and multi-scale brain organization studies.
- 2025 Principal’s Prize for Early-career Researchers
- Alzheimer Society Research Program (ASRP) Fellowship
- Fonds de recherche du Québec-Santé (FRQS) Fellowship
- Quebec Bio-Imaging Network (QBIN) Scholarship
- NSERC Discovery Grant recipient
Dr. Dadar’s team received CIHR Operating Grants and CFI infrastructure support, with lab members like Dr. Isabelle Lajoie (ALS Society of Canada awardee). She co-leads initiatives on MRI quality control (QRATER) and brain atlas development (PaleoArchiNeo). Her work bridges clinical and ex vivo assessments to unravel cerebrovascular contributions to neurodegenerative disease.
