Mahrokh Abdollahi Lorestani

Mahrokh Abdollahi Lorestani is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, University of Technology Sydney (UTS). She holds a PhD in Information Technology (2022) and an M.S. in IT (2016), both from UTS, alongside a Bachelor's in Computer Engineering from Najafabad Azad University (2006). Her expertise spans software-defined networking (SDN), wireless multi-hop networks, 5G/6G networks, machine learning, and IoT applications. She has held concurrent roles as a Casual Tutor at UTS and Casual Instructor at TAFE NSW since 2018.

Her research focuses on optimizing routing protocols in dynamic wireless environments, particularly leveraging SDN architectures to enhance network efficiency, reduce latency, and manage resource allocation in multi-hop D2D (Device-to-Device) networks. Her work addresses challenges such as energy consumption, cellular network offloading, and adaptive communication strategies in heterogeneous environments.

Key achievements include the UTS Doctoral Scholarship (2019), FEIT Female HDR Top-Up Scholarship, and Vice-Chancellor’s Postgraduate Research Conference Fund. Her publications (2018–2022) emphasize practical SDN implementations for wireless networks, including dynamic routing selection, protocol performance analysis, and multi-frequency mesh network optimization.

Mahrokh has contributed to funded research exploring SDN-based adaptive routing frameworks and has collaborated on projects aimed at reducing cellular network congestion through D2D offloading strategies. Her interdisciplinary approach integrates machine learning techniques with traditional networking challenges, positioning her work at the forefront of modern telecommunications research.
