Professor Mahmut İSLAMOĞLU is a distinguished academic at Adıyaman University, Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Plant Protection. He was promoted to full Professor in February 2024 after serving as Associate Professor since 2019. With a career spanning over three decades since his graduation in 1991, he has established himself as a leading expert in agricultural entomology and biological control methods, particularly focusing on sunn pest management.
His research interests encompass biological control of agricultural pests, insect ecology and epidemiology, parasitoid-host interactions, and integrated pest management strategies. Professor İslamoğlu has conducted extensive field studies in Adıyaman Province, investigating pests affecting wheat, lentils, almonds, and pine forests. His work bridges fundamental entomological research with practical agricultural applications.
His recent publications (2022-2024) demonstrate continued research productivity, with numerous articles focusing on lentil pests, almond orchard pests, pine forest pests, and sunn pest management. These studies reveal a consistent research trajectory examining pest identification, distribution patterns, and biological control methods across diverse agricultural ecosystems in southeastern Turkey.
Scientific Recognition:
- TEŞEKKÜRNAME from Koruma ve Kontrol Genel Müdürlüğü
- TAKTİRNAME from Tarımsal Araştırmalar Genel Müdürlüğü
- Yayın Teşvik Ödülü from Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock
- TÜBİTAK Award
In addition to his research, Professor İslamoğlu holds significant administrative responsibilities as Vice Dean and Department Head at Adıyaman University. He has supervised numerous research projects and has been active in professional organizations including the Turkish Biological Control Association and Turkish Entomological Association. His work has practical implications for farmers in the region, addressing critical pest management challenges in local agricultural systems.
Professor İslamoğlu's laboratory focuses on entomological research, particularly examining parasitoid-host relationships and biological control agents for agricultural pests. His research group conducts field surveys across Adıyaman Province and laboratory studies on pest biology and control methods, contributing valuable knowledge to the field of agricultural entomology in Turkey.
