Prof. Dr. Mahmut YILMAZ is a full-time faculty member at the Department of Agricultural Biotechnology, Faculty of Agriculture, Kırşehir Ahi Evran University (since 2017). Previously, he served as Professor (2016-2017) and Associate Professor (2011-2016) in the Department of Biology, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Kırşehir Ahi Evran University. His academic career began in 1998 as a Research Assistant at Ondokuz Mayıs University.
- PhD in Biology, Ondokuz Mayıs University (2001)
- MSc in Biology, Ondokuz Mayıs University (1996)
- BSc in Mathematics and Science Education, Ondokuz Mayıs University (1993)
Research Interests: His work focuses on Hydrobiology, Limnology, and Ecology, particularly studying invasive fish species, heavy metal accumulation in aquatic organisms, and biometric analysis of fish populations. He has led multiple projects on reservoir ecology and fish adaptation.
Article Trends: His publications (50+) primarily address:
- Ecological impact of invasive fish species
- Heavy metal pollution in dam lakes
- Fish feeding habits and trophic interactions
- Otolith and skeletal structure analysis for age determination
- Water quality assessment for agricultural use
Project Leadership: He has directed 14 research projects, including studies on Lesepsiyan fish species, metal contamination in reservoirs, and biomanipulation in eutrophic lakes. His 2024 TÜBA/TÜBİTAK-funded project examines protein hydrolysates from invasive fish species.
Advising: He has supervised 9 graduate theses (4 PhD, 5 MSc) as primary advisor, focusing on invasive fish biology, heavy metal accumulation, and reservoir ecosystem dynamics.
