Mahmoud Emira is a Senior Lecturer in Educational Leadership and Management at Bath Spa University, serving as Subject Lead for Postgraduate and International programs and Programme Leader for the MA Education (Leadership and Management). He holds academic affiliations with the School of Education and has been a Senior Researcher at Cambridge Assessment/OCR (University of Cambridge).
His academic qualifications include an EdD in Professional Studies in Education (Leadership), PG Cert in Academic Practice in Higher Education, PG Dip in Teaching Methods, MA in TESOL, and BA in English Literature. Professional memberships include Fellowships with the Higher Education Academy (HEA), Society for Education and Training (SET), and British Educational Leadership Management and Administration Society (BELMAS).
Research Interests: Educational leadership, educational assessment, vocational education, disability and inclusion, and educational policy. His work focuses on leadership barriers for disabled academics, vocational training efficacy (e.g., City & Guilds TechBac), and historical policy analysis in Egyptian higher education.
Key Projects: Led a Leadership Foundation-funded study on disability-inclusive leadership in HE (2017), evaluated the TechBac vocational program (2017), and conducted longitudinal studies on early years education policy (2012). His research outputs include over 20 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and commissioned reports.
Awards: Recognized for impactful publications, including a SAGE most-read article and inclusion in Hong Kong’s professional teaching resources. His work emphasizes equity in education and organizational culture reform for disabled staff.
