Mahan Mehrvarz is a design researcher at the AI Futures Lab within the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering at TU Delft. His work focuses on AI-driven transformations in the future of work, emphasizing humane and equitable outcomes through practice-based research. He teaches prototyping, interaction design, and speculative design to master’s students in the Design for Interaction program.
Education: Master of Architecture (specializing in Situated Technologies) from the State University of New York (UB), awarded the Henry Adams Gold Medal of Merit by the AIA Institute. Prior industry experience includes a decade of design practice and research collaborations with institutions like the Center for Architecture and Situated Technologies, Technē Institute for Arts and Emerging Technologies, and Tehran Urban Innovation Center.
Research interests include speculative artifacts/scenarios for AI’s impact on workplace dynamics, worker visibility, and interpersonal impressions. His work bridges technology ethics, human-technology relations, and applied design methodologies.
