Magnus Kristoffersson is an Associate Professor of Law at Örebro University, Sweden, affiliated with the School of Behavioural, Social and Legal Sciences. His research focuses on tax law, digitalization's impact on taxation systems, and legal technology innovations. He leads the Tax Law research group and initiated the FIRE research consortium. He teaches tax law at undergraduate and graduate levels and has held leadership roles such as Vice Dean of the Faculty of HS (2018–2020) and WP leader for NEOLAiA Europe University's WP5.
Education: LL.M. (1992) and LL.D. (1999) in Tax Law from Uppsala University. Prior to academia, he practiced law in mergers & acquisitions.
Research interests span digital platforms, AI, and blockchain effects on tax systems. Current projects include the FIRE initiative exploring financial information ecosystems and the NEOLAiA EU project on AI-driven research development. He also examines cost barriers to equitable access to legal technology solutions.
Leadership roles include board membership at the TOR/Skattenytt foundation and steering the LDA (Law, Digitization and AI) research environment. His work bridges legal frameworks with emerging technologies to address global challenges in taxation and digital governance.
