Maggie Struck serves as Associate Professor in the School of Education and Leadership at Hamline University, where she has held faculty positions since 2016 after earning her PhD from the University of Minnesota. Her career integrates twenty-five years of frontline experience including community activism on Saint Paul's Westside, K-6 elementary teaching, and literacy instructional coaching.
Her educational foundation includes:
- PhD in Curriculum and Instruction (University of Minnesota, 2016)
Professor Struck's research examines the convergence of inclusive pedagogy, community engagement, and digital literacy in urban educational contexts. Grounded in critical sociocultural theory, her work prioritizes power dynamics, identity formation, and anti-oppressive frameworks within K-6 literacy instruction. She investigates how digital tools foster youth engagement through community-based learning models that bridge classroom and neighborhood contexts.
As principal investigator and coordinator of the Hamline to Hamline Collaboration, she directs this reciprocal partnership between Hamline Elementary School and Hamline University. The initiative facilitates joint academic programming and community education projects involving students, faculty, and staff across both institutions to advance socially just educational practices.
