Dr. Magdalena Lisińska is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of American Studies and Polish Diaspora within the Faculty of International and Political Studies at Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland. She serves as the Dean's Representative for Promotion (2000-2024) and represents the Jagiellonian University in the Latin America Subgroup of the Una Europa consortium. Holding a PhD in Social Sciences in Political Science (2018), she completed bachelor's and master's degrees in International Relations (2012 and 2014), a master's degree in American Studies with specialization in Latin America (2015), and conducted extensive international research as a visiting scholar at numerous institutions across Latin America and Europe.
Her research focuses on Contemporary Argentina, Argentine Political History, Relations between Argentine domestic and foreign policy, South Atlantic and the Malvinas/Falkland Islands, and Organized crime in Latin America. Her scholarly work demonstrates a consistent engagement with Argentine politics across historical periods, with particular attention to the military dictatorship era (1976-1983), contemporary political polarization, and the enduring Falklands/Malvinas dispute as a central element of Argentine national identity and foreign policy.
Dr. Lisińska's publication record shows a strong trajectory in Latin American studies, with recent work increasingly focused on constructivist analyses of territorial disputes, political polarization during crises (particularly the pandemic period), and the evolving nature of Argentine foreign policy. Her scholarship spans monographs, edited volumes, book chapters, peer-reviewed journal articles in both Polish and international publications, and numerous conference presentations across Europe and Latin America.

Dr. Lisińska has secured significant research funding including an NCN research grant on 'Ideologization of Argentina's foreign policy within the National Reorganization Process 1976-1983' (2016-2019) and conducted her own project 'Argentina – history and society' (2020-2021). Her international research collaborations include visiting positions at the University of Buenos Aires, National University of Quilmes, National University of Comahue, University of Helsinki, University of London, and Free University of Berlin. She regularly contributes expert commentary to Polish media outlets including Krytyka Polityczna, Dziennik.pl, and Onet on Latin American political developments.
