Magdalena Grabowska

Magdalena Grabowska is a researcher in the Department of Water Ecology at the Faculty of Biology, University of Białystok. Her roles include membership in the Faculty Council, Disciplinary Council, Polish Phycological Society, and Białystok Regional Committee of the Biology Olympiad. She is also the Dean's Representative for e-learning and part of the Directional Teaching Team for Ecobusiness.

Her research focuses on freshwater ecosystems, particularly phytoplankton ecology, toxic cyanobacterial blooms, and water quality assessment. She investigates the ecological impacts of cyanobacteria in reservoirs like Siemianówka and rivers like the Narew, alongside multifaceted environmental monitoring. Key areas include phytoplankton taxonomy, hydrological influences, and the ecological risks posed by invasive species.

Her publications span over 20 years, addressing topics such as cyanotoxin distribution, algal bloom dynamics, and the effects of eutrophication. Notable contributions include studies on the European Multi Lake Survey dataset (2018) and the biodegradation of microcystins (2017). She also contributes to teaching courses like Environmental Impact Assessment and Freshwater Ecology.
