Dr. Magdalena Górska is an Assistant Professor at Utrecht University's Department of Media and Culture Studies and the Institute for Cultural Inquiry (ICON). She co-coordinates the MA Gender Studies Programme and leads interdisciplinary research on feminist politics of breathing. Her work explores how social and environmental inequalities shape respiratory experiences, emphasizing intersectionality and posthumanist frameworks. Current projects include the ERC-funded RESPIRE initiative (2025), analyzing planetary breathing amid environmental crises.
Education: PhD in Gender Studies (Linköping University, Sweden), Mgr. in Gender Studies (Charles University, Czech Republic), with postgraduate training at Utrecht University and UC Santa Cruz.
Research Interests: Critical Respiratory Studies, feminist epistemology, environmental humanities, disability studies. Key projects include the Breathing Matters Network and the Routledge Critical Perspectives on Breath and Breathing book series.
Recent Work: Awarded ERC Starting Grant (2024) for RESPIRE, which examines socio-environmental entanglements in planetary respiration. Co-editing volumes on 'Social and Political Suffocations' and 'Critical Respiratory Studies.'

Teaching & Outreach: Organizes courses on intersectionality, gender studies, and vulnerability. Founded the Breathable Futures Today project during the pandemic, exploring post-pandemic societal transformations.
