Mafiz Rahman

Dr. Mafiz Rahman is a Professor of Economics at the University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ), Australia, and serves as Head of the Economics Discipline. He holds a PhD from the University of Sydney and advanced degrees from ANU and Jahangirnagar University. His research focuses on Environmental Economics, Energy Economics, Development Economics, Health Economics, and International Economics. He has published over 250 works, including 179 peer-reviewed articles in top-tier journals. His research has been recognized by Stanford University's top 2% researcher list (2021–2023), the UniSQ Supervision Award (2024), and multiple publication excellence awards. He leads projects funded by Australian Federal Government grants totaling over $1M.

Rahman has supervised 16 completed PhD students and mentors early-career researchers. His work explores climate change impacts, renewable energy transitions, and sustainable development. He contributes to policy through media commentary on socio-economic issues and serves on editorial boards of economics journals. His grants include studies on digital futures and collaborative research networks.
