Madiha Ahmed serves as a Senior Fellow and Professional in Residence in the Department of International Development and Global Studies within the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ottawa. Her research focuses on climate change adaptation, environmental sustainability, population health, gender equity, and food system transformation to reduce global inequalities.
Her academic background includes:
- MPhil in Economics from the University of Cambridge (2003)
- BSc Hons in Economics from Lahore University of Management Sciences (2002)
Her research integrates International Development, Health Economics, Climate Policy, and Equity studies to address systemic inequalities through sustainable food systems and climate adaptation frameworks. She emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches connecting economic theory with social justice outcomes in global contexts.
Office hours are held Mondays and Fridays 2:00-4:00 PM in room 8055 of the Social Science Building (FSS) by appointment via mahmed6@uottawa.ca.
