Madhurima Dutta is a Research Fellow in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Bath, affiliated with the Centre for Bioengineering & Biomedical Technologies (CBio), Centre for Sustainable Energy Systems (SES), and Centre for Climate Adaptation & Environment Research (CAER). She served as a Visiting Academic at the University of Southampton from February to May 2024.
Her educational qualifications include:
- Doctor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (awarded December 2023) for research on functionalized ultrafiltration membranes for wastewater remediation and process modelling
- Master of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (awarded July 2017) focusing on nickel iron oxide doped hollow fiber ultrafiltration membranes
- Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering from Heritage Institute of Technology (awarded June 2015)
Dr. Dutta's research specializes in advanced membrane technologies for environmental and biomedical applications. Her work integrates surface chemistry, separation science, and computational modeling to develop sustainable solutions for wastewater treatment and protein purification systems. She applies these methodologies to address critical challenges in water security and bioprocessing through interdisciplinary collaboration across her affiliated research centers.
Her technical expertise spans membrane fabrication, performance characterization, and mathematical modeling of separation processes, with direct applications in climate adaptation and sustainable energy systems through her work with Bath's research centers.
