Madhavi Krishnan serves as Professor of Physical Chemistry at the University of Oxford, affiliated with Merton College. Her Krishnan Lab pioneers experimental and theoretical approaches to nanoscale molecular interactions in fluids, with breakthrough work on the electrostatic fluidic trap enabling three-dimensional single-molecule confinement in solution.
Her educational trajectory includes undergraduate studies at Anna University (India), a PhD from the University of Michigan, and postdoctoral research at Technical University Dresden (Alexander von Humboldt Fellow) and ETH Zurich (Marie Curie Fellow). Prior academic appointments include Assistant Professor at the University of Zurich with Swiss National Science Foundation support.
Professor Krishnan's research centers on molecular electrostatics in fluid environments, particularly how interfacial solvent modulates forces between charged entities.
