معرفی
Madhav Menon, MBBS, MD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at Yale School of Medicine, serving as Director of Research in Kidney Transplantation and Nephrology. His roles include membership in the Human and Translational Immunology Program and leadership in the Nephrology Program in Translational Biomedicine (PTB).
Education: MBBS from Calicut University (2002), MD in Internal Medicine from PGIMER (2006), followed by residency at SUNY Upstate Medical University (2010), and fellowships in Nephrology and Transplantation at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (2012–2014).
Research Focus: Dr. Menon’s work centers on kidney fibrosis mechanisms, genetic factors influencing transplant outcomes, and APOL1 variant pathophysiology. Key areas include SHROOM3’s dual role in podocyte protection vs. tubular fibrosis, AMPK-activation strategies for FSGS, and non-HLA donor-recipient mismatches in transplant survival. His lab investigates novel therapeutic targets for CKD and transplant rejection.
Publications: Recent work spans genetic variants in kidney transplant failure, LIMS1 mismatch associations, and APOL1’s non-podocyte roles. His translational research includes clinical trials evaluating metformin for FSGS and deep learning applications in graft assessment.
- Awards: Blavatnik Accelerator Award (2024), ASCI Election (2024), ISN Early Career Award (2021), AST Basic Science Award (2020).
- Grants/Leadership: NIH-funded studies on genetic mismatches and clinical trials on AMPK activation. Serves as Associate Editor for journals and grant reviewer for multiple agencies.
Labs/Teams: Menon Lab focuses on renal fibrosis and transplant immunology. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams on projects like the Phase 2 metformin trial and LIMS1 genetic studies.
