Madelon van Oostrom

Madelon van Oostrom is an Associate Professor of Digital Literacy and Inclusion at Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen. Her research focuses on addressing the digital divide through inclusive design, critical digital skill development, and bridging gaps between support structures and marginalized communities. She actively contributes to regional, national, and international initiatives such as the Digital Literacy Coalition and the IGNITION Erasmus+ project under the Stars European University Alliance.

Education: Ph.D. in Sociology and Political Science from University La Laguna (2016), specializing in Innovation Culture and Regional Innovation Systems. She has led multiple research projects since 2021, including 'Digitale Hero' exploring serious gaming for vulnerable youth and 'Proeftuin Digitale Toegankelijke Zorg' addressing accessible digital healthcare.

Collaborations include the Digital Academy Northern Netherlands, Alliantie Digitaal Samenleven (national alliance), and Stars EU Alliance. Her work emphasizes participatory action research and co-creation with stakeholders to ensure practical, locally adaptable solutions.
