Madeline McCullough serves as full-time faculty at Wichita State University within the Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, specifically in the Elliott School of Communication. She holds the position of instructor and creative director of Shocker Ad Lab, the school's advertising agency practicum class. With a background spanning both academia and professional advertising, McCullough brings 15 years of industry experience to her teaching role.
Her educational background includes an M.A. in Communication (2014) and a B.F.A. in Art History (1986), both from Wichita State University. She also completed French studies at Universite Des Strasbourg during the summer of 1982, focusing on advanced conversation, intermediate grammar, and art history research.
McCullough's research interests center on the history of Kodak advertising, best practices in online teaching, and curriculum development based on a research- and skills-based approach to creativity. She has presented her work at the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication and the National and Southwest Popular/American Culture Association conferences.
She teaches multiple courses including COMM 301 Writing for the Mass Audiences, COMM 324 Introduction to Integrated Marketing Communications, COMM 450 IMC Strategy, COMM 525 Advertising Copy Writing, and COMM 662T/860AI IMC Practicum and Copy Writing for Professionals. Her teaching bridges academic theory with professional practice through the Shocker Ad Lab, which produces real-world advertising campaigns like the 'Find Your Voice' campaign for Communication Week 2021.

Her professional experience directly informs her teaching approach, bringing 'boots-on-the-ground experience to an academic setting' as she describes it.
