Madelene Ostwald is a Senior Associate Professor at Linköping University, affiliated with the Department of Thematic Studies (Environmental Change) and the Centre for Climate Science and Policy Research (CSPR). She co-edits Ambio – A Journal of Environment and Society and leads the AgriFoSe2030 programme's Challenge 2: Agricultural Productivity and Ecosystem Functions.
- Research Focus: Multifunctional land use systems, climate change mitigation, ecosystem services, and sustainable agriculture in Africa and Sweden.
- Projects: AgriFoSe2030 (2016–2026), Climate Adaptation Together (2024–2025), TRAMAP (2024), and NPP-project (2019–2024).
- Collaborations: Works with Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Lund University, Stockholm Environment Institute, IVL Swedish Environmental Institute, and international institutions in Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, and Kenya.
