Madelene Christin Holm is a Doctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Psychology at the University of Oslo, affiliated with the Faculty of Social Sciences. She is part of the Multimodal Imaging group and the BRAINMINT project, focusing on neuroplasticity and mental health risks during key female life transitions (menarche, pregnancy, menopause). Her work integrates brain imaging (f/MRI) and neuropsychological approaches to study psychiatric illnesses and women's mental health.
Education:
- BSc in Cognitive Neuroscience (Consciousness Studies) from University of Skövde, Sweden (2017)
- Master of Science (RM) in Cognitive and Clinical Neuroscience (Neuropsychology) from Maastricht University, Netherlands (2020)
Research Interests: Her research emphasizes understanding how female reproductive systems and life transitions impact brain structure/function and mental health outcomes. She employs advanced neuroimaging techniques to investigate developmental trajectories and sex differences in neurobiology. Recent work includes studies on puberty's role in brain maturation and longitudinal brain age prediction in youth.
Publications: Recent contributions focus on developmental clinical neuroscience, including sex-specific brain maturation patterns, polygenic risk associations in children, and functional brain networks linked to psychopathology. These studies leverage large-scale datasets like the ABCD Study.
Advising & Collaboration: Open to supervising bachelor/master theses in related areas. Active collaborator in multidisciplinary teams studying mental health biomarkers and neurodevelopmental disorders.
