Dr. Madeleine Wirzén is an Assistant Professor at Linköping University’s Department of Thematic Studies (TEMA), within the Child Studies (TEMAB) division. Her work focuses on institutional communication practices, particularly in social services, adoption processes, and child welfare contexts. She employs conversation analysis to study how identities, norms, and tasks are negotiated through talk in professional settings.

Her recent work includes projects funded by Riksbankens Jubileumsfond (SEK 187,800) and FORTE (SEK 3.61 million as Project Leader in 2024). She co-supervises PhD student Kevin Tankred and collaborates with researchers like David Ekholm and Asta Čekaitė. Her research bridges sociology, communication studies, and child welfare, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches.
