Madeleine K. Albright was the Michael and Virginia Mortara Endowed Distinguished Professor in the Practice of Diplomacy at Georgetown University's Walsh School of Foreign Service. As the first female U.S. Secretary of State (1997-2001), she shaped American foreign policy on democracy promotion, human rights, and global alliances. Earlier roles include U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations (1993-1997) and National Security Council staff member under President Carter.
