Madeleine Jansen serves as Assistant Professor of Violin and Viola at Kansas State University's School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, where she teaches violin, viola, chamber music, and string pedagogy. She concurrently holds leadership roles as Violin Faculty, String Department Chair, and Chamber Music Coordinator at Luzerne Music Center in New York, a summer program for pre-college musicians.
Her educational background includes studies at Boston University, Royal College of Music (London), UMass Amherst, and University of Maryland. Performance highlights span Carnegie Hall, United Nations Headquarters, and Capitol Hill, with recent engagements featuring Ralph Vaughn Williams' The Lark Ascending and premiering Kurdish-Canadian composer Rizgar Ismael's commissioned work.
Jansen co-founded Arco in 2021—an un-conducted orchestra project focused on community engagement—and mentors students accepted to Juilliard, Manhattan School of Music, and top conservatories. Her students have won competitions and attended festivals like Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival. Research interests center on violin/viola performance across historical repertoires, chamber music collaboration, and innovative string pedagogy integrated with audience development initiatives.
