Prof. Madeleine Durand is a Clinical Professor at Université de Montréal, affiliated with both the Faculty of Medicine (Department of Medicine) and the School of Public Health (Department of Social and Preventive Medicine). She holds dual appointments and is based at the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM). Her research focuses on premature aging mechanisms linked to chronic HIV infection, emphasizing cardiovascular health and the application of health data analytics for drug safety evaluation.
Research Expertise: Her work integrates clinical epidemiology, immunology, and population health. Key areas include HIV-associated cardiovascular comorbidities, immune activation pathways, and leveraging administrative healthcare databases to assess medication risks. She leads projects on biomarkers of inflammation, anti-retroviral therapy optimization, and pandemic response (e.g., Quebec COVID-19 Biobank).
Grants & Awards: Principal investigator on major grants from CIHR and FRQS, including a Senior Clinical Investigator Award (2024-2028). Notable recognition includes the 2022 CRCHUM Excellence Award for Emerging Talent.
