Omar SERRI is a Full Professor at the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine of Université de Montréal. He is affiliated with the CRCHUM (Centre de recherche du Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal) and the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM). His research focuses on pituitary tumors (prolactinomas and acromegaly), atherosclerosis in diabetes, and metabolic and neuroendocrine pathways. His work employs clinical methodologies to study diabetes, pituitary diseases, and cardiovascular risks.
Research expertise includes endocrine disorders, obesity, hepatic diseases, and hormonal regulation. He has supervised multiple students, including Nadiah Moussavi (2003, Master's), Anne-Cécile Desfaits (1998, PhD), and others. His interdisciplinary interests span nutritional requirements, feeding behavior, and social determinants of metabolic disorders.
Affiliated with CRCHUM, his research integrates clinical and translational approaches, addressing topics like growth hormone regulation in diabetes and the effects of medications on metabolic pathways.
