Dr. Macie Alavi is a Lecturer at Griffith University's School of Applied Psychology, where she also serves as Acting Program Director for the Bachelor of Counselling during specified terms. She maintains research affiliations with the Griffith Centre for Mental Health. Previously, she held academic positions at Monash University Malaysia, UCSI University Malaysia, and completed postdoctoral work at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.
Her research focuses on quantitative analysis of psychological phenomena, with core interests in:
- Dark Triad personality traits (narcissism, Machiavellianism, psychopathy)
- Cyberbullying and cybertrolling behaviors among adolescents
- Mental health factors influencing relationship quality
- Cross-cultural studies of family functioning
- Emotional regulation strategies
She has received multiple academic honors including:
- Best Researcher Award from Alzahra University (2018)
- Best Student Award for PhD, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (2015)
- Best Student Award for Master's, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (2011)
As Associate Supervisor, she guides doctoral research on masculinity traits in young adults. She holds Senior Fellow status with the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) and contributes to Griffith's Counselling program development.
At the Centre for Mental Health, she collaborates on research initiatives focused on psychological well-being interventions. Her multilingual capabilities (Persian, Arabic) support international research partnerships.
