Machteld van den Broek

Machteld van den Broek is a Professor at the Integrated Research on Energy, Environment and Society (IREES) department of the Faculty of Science and Engineering at the University of Groningen. Her work focuses on energy transition challenges, including renewable energy integration, carbon capture technologies, and climate-resilient energy systems. She contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to affordable clean energy and climate action.

Research interests include power grid flexibility, sustainable energy policies, and industrial energy systems. She has published extensively on topics such as deep decarbonization strategies, renewable energy feasibility, and climate impacts on energy supply.
