Dr. Maarten Buis is a Lecturer at the Department of Sociology, University of Konstanz. His research focuses on social stratification, educational attainment, and statistical modeling, particularly using Stata and Mata for simulations.
He has developed agent-based models (ABMs) to study macro-level outcomes from individual rules, such as disease spread. His software tools like abm_pop, abm_nw, and abm_grid classes in Mata facilitate ABMs, network analysis, and grid-based simulations. These tools were presented at international Stata Users Group meetings and workshops.
