Dr. Maarten Bijlsma is an Assistant Professor of Precision Drug Therapy & Real World Evidence within the Faculty of Science and Engineering at the University of Groningen. He is affiliated with the Groningen Research Institute of Pharmacy and holds a guest researcher position at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research since May 2021. His research focuses on statistics, causal inference, machine learning, pharmacoepidemiology, and longitudinal analysis, with applications in healthcare outcomes and policy. Recent work includes studies on treatment comparisons for prostate cancer, access to immunotherapy for lung cancer, asthma treatment dynamics, and socioeconomic disparities in health.
Publications highlight contributions to comparative effectiveness research, causal modeling via the g-formula, and understanding health inequities.
