MUSTAFA CAN serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of History at Gaziantep University's Faculty of Arts and Sciences, specializing in Ottoman Institutions and Civilization. He joined the university in 2021 after serving as a Research Assistant at Gazi University from 2012-2021. His academic journey includes doctorate studies in Modern Age History at Gazi University and earlier degrees from Gaziantep and Dokuz Eylül Universities.

Research Focus
Professor CAN's scholarly work centers on Ottoman institutional structures, diplomatic practices, and regional histories of southeastern Anatolia. His methodology combines archival analysis of vakıf records, ambassadorial accounts, and historical registers with contemporary historical interpretation. Recent publications demonstrate increasing focus on the National Struggle period in southeastern Anatolia, particularly examining local histories of Hatay, Kilis, Antep, and Urfa.
His research bridges Ottoman diplomatic history with cultural studies, examining topics from incense usage in Ottoman culture to military organization and diplomatic protocol. This interdisciplinary approach has produced significant contributions to understanding Ottoman administrative practices through primary source analysis.

Academic Leadership
Professor CAN has held multiple administrative positions including Department Head at Gaziantep University (2021-2023), Deputy Director of a Research Center at Gazi University (2018-2020), and served as Erasmus and Farabi Coordinator. He has supervised eight Master's students with thesis topics focusing on Ottoman archival documents, including transcriptions of şer'iyye sicilleri from various Anatolian cities. His five completed research projects include 'Millî Mücadelenin Yerel Tarihleri' (2021-2023) and several examining Ottoman vakıf structures across Balkan countries.
