Muhammet Mahmutoğlu is an Assistant Professor at Gaziantep University, Faculty of Theology, Department of Philosophy and Religious Sciences. He has also held academic positions at Osh State University (2012-2014) and currently serves as Domestic Deputy Dean (2024).

His research focuses on history of religions, sainthood practices, and interfaith dialogues, with particular emphasis on Central Asian religious traditions. He has translated and analyzed sacred texts across Turkish, Kyrgyz, and Christian contexts.
Recent publications examine sacredness in religious texts, urban religious traces, and mythological elements in theology. His work bridges comparative religion and anthropological approaches.
