معرفی
Meryem Göktaş is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Machine and Metal Technologies, Metallurgy at Bilecik Seyh Edebali University's Vocational School, where she has been serving since 2018. Her academic career at the university began as a Lecturer at the Bozüyük Vocational School from 2010-2017 before advancing to her current Assistant Professor position, with departmental leadership experience from 2017-2019.
Her educational background includes:
- Doctorate in Mineral Processing from Inonu University (2007-2013)
- Master's degree in Mineral Processing from Dokuz Eylul University (2003-2007)
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering from Inonu University (1999-2003)
Dr. Göktaş's research spans multiple areas of materials science with a particular focus on advanced composite materials. Her work primarily investigates graphene applications in polymer composites, mechanical activation of minerals, green synthesis techniques, and biodegradable materials. She has made significant contributions to understanding the properties and applications of graphene-reinforced polymers, particularly in PVC and polycaprolactone systems. Her research on mechanical activation explores how intensive grinding affects mineral properties, with applications in ceramic production and waste utilization. The green synthesis aspect of her work focuses on environmentally friendly methods for producing carbon-based nanomaterials using natural extracts like rosehip.
Analysis of her recent publications reveals a strong trend toward sustainable materials research. Her work increasingly focuses on utilizing waste materials (such as seashell waste and marble industry byproducts) to create value-added composites. There's also a clear progression from fundamental material synthesis toward biomedical applications, particularly in biodegradable polymers reinforced with carbon nanomaterials. Her research bridges traditional mineral processing with cutting-edge nanotechnology applications, creating innovative solutions for both industrial and biomedical challenges.
Dr. Göktaş has successfully secured multiple research grants, primarily through university BAP programs and TUBITAK funding. Her project portfolio demonstrates expertise across several domains:
- Development of graphene-reinforced polymer composites for enhanced mechanical and thermal properties
- Green synthesis methods for carbon nanomaterials using natural extracts
- Utilization of industrial waste materials in advanced ceramic and composite production
- Investigation of mechanical activation processes for mineral processing applications
Her laboratory work focuses on materials synthesis, characterization, and testing, with particular emphasis on polymer nanocomposites and mechanically activated minerals. Current research directions include developing biodegradable nanocomposites for biomedical applications and exploring sustainable methods for producing advanced materials from waste resources.
