Professor MEHMET CESUR is a distinguished academic in the field of Anesthesiology and Reanimation at Gaziantep University, Faculty of Medicine. He serves in both the Department of Surgical Medicine and the Department of Anesthesiology and Reanimation, contributing significantly to medical education and research in Turkey.
His educational background includes a Medical Specialization (1994-1999) and a Licence from Çukurova University, Faculty of Medicine (1986-1992). His academic career progressed from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor at Atatürk University (2000-2011), and he has been a Professor at Gaziantep University since 2011.
Professor Cesur's research focuses primarily on various aspects of anesthesiology, with particular emphasis on regional anesthesia techniques, obstetric anesthesia, pain management, and specialized anesthetic approaches for high-risk patients. His work spans clinical applications of intravenous regional anesthesia (IVRA), spinal and epidural techniques, and innovative approaches to challenging airway management. He has made significant contributions to understanding optimal dosing of anesthetic agents, pain management protocols, and safety considerations in specialized patient populations including those with neuromuscular disorders and cardiac conditions.
Analysis of his recent publications reveals a strong focus on practical clinical applications of anesthesia techniques, with particular attention to dose optimization, comparative effectiveness of different anesthetic approaches, and specialized techniques for specific surgical procedures. Professor Cesur has supervised numerous graduate students, with 15 completed theses documented in his academic record, indicating his significant role in mentoring the next generation of anesthesiologists. His research has been supported by national scientific research projects, including a completed study on the effects of automated gas-controlled/target-controlled low-flow anesthesia on anesthetic agent consumption in elective surgeries (2019-2022).
