Dr. Mehmet Altun is a Lecturer at Bingöl University's Faculty of Sports Sciences, Department of Physical Education and Sports. His professional roles include teaching and administrative duties at Istanbul Florya Tevfik Ercan Anatolian High School until 2025. He holds a PhD from Marmara University's Department of Sports Management Sciences (2019-2023), following a master's from Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University (2016-2018) and a bachelor's in Physical Education from Malatya İnönü University (1995-1999).
His research focuses on youth sport participation impacts, exercise addiction, sports management strategies, and inclusive physical education practices. Notable studies include analyses of high school students' self-esteem/body literacy connections, attitudes toward disabled individuals, and the efficacy of Tabata training for athletes.
Altun has contributed to 7 peer-reviewed articles since 2018, with recent work emphasizing social-psychological aspects of sports participation. He authored/co-authored two books: 'An Analysis of Fitness Center Customer Expectations' and 'Special Olympics Football Coach Guide.' His academic work bridges theoretical research with practical applications in school sports programs and community fitness initiatives.
