معرفی
Prof. Dr. Mehmet Çiftçi is a Professor at Bingöl University's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Basic Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Atatürk University (1998) and has been an academic since 1999, advancing from Assistant Professor (1999-2003) to Associate Professor (2003-2009) before becoming a full Professor in 2009. His research focuses on enzyme kinetics, drug interactions with enzymes, and biochemical processes in veterinary and biomedical contexts.
Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s in Chemistry Education, Atatürk University (1985)
- Master’s in Biochemistry, Atatürk University (1992)
- Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Atatürk University (1998)
Research Interests:
Prof. Çiftçi specializes in enzyme inhibition mechanisms, particularly studying the effects of drugs, antibiotics, and environmental agents on enzymes like glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD), glutathione reductase, and carbonic anhydrase. His work bridges pharmacology, biochemistry, and veterinary medicine, with applications in drug development, toxicology, and disease pathophysiology.
Key Contributions:
His recent studies include investigating antibiotic impacts on enzyme activities in various organisms (e.g., rats, fish), developing methods for enzyme purification, and exploring natural product-based therapies for cancer and oxidative stress. He has advised over 30 master’s and doctoral students, contributing significantly to academic mentorship.
Publications:
Over 100 peer-reviewed articles focus on enzyme inhibition, drug metabolism, and biochemical pathways. Notable studies include the effects of amoxicillin and gentamicin on antioxidant systems and the anticancer properties of royal jelly.
Labs & Collaborations:
His research integrates biochemical analyses with molecular biology techniques, often collaborating with universities and institutions on interdisciplinary projects in Turkey and internationally.
