Prof. M. Naci Inci is a Professor of Physics and Rector at Boğaziçi University. He holds additional roles as Board Member of Turkcell, Council Member of Turkish-Japanese Science and Technology University, and Board Member of TÜBİTAK. Previously, he served as Head of the Physics Department at Boğaziçi University (2013-2020) and was a faculty member at Sabancı University (1999-2005). His academic career includes postdoctoral research at Stanford University and visiting appointments at institutions such as Stuttgart University and Gunma University.
Education: BSc from Marmara University (1987), PhD in Physics from Heriot-Watt University (1993). Research focuses on photonics, cavity QED, nanoparticle physics, and optical sensors with applications in Anderson localization and plasmonic systems. His group (Boğaziçi University Photonics Group) explores quantum optics, nanoscale interactions, and sensor technologies.
Research highlights include studies on spontaneous emission enhancement in hybrid photonic-plasmonic systems, Anderson localization in waveguides, and humidity-sensitive optical fibers. His work integrates experimental and theoretical approaches to advance photonics and nanotechnology.
Teaching spans undergraduate and graduate physics courses including Classical Mechanics, Quantum Optics, and Photonics & Optoelectronics. Supervised notable PhD students such as Gültekin Gülşen and Belkıs Gökbulut, now leading academics in their fields. Active in international conferences and publications across photonics, optics, and materials science.
