M. Kathryn Edwards is Associate Professor of History at Tulane University specializing in modern France and French empire. As Director of Graduate Studies, she oversees history graduate programs.
Research examines French remembrance of colonialism through monuments, films, and veterans' organizations. Current project analyzes 1930s colonial reform efforts under the Popular Front government, particularly the Guernut Commission investigation of colonial abuses.
Teaching covers French colonialism (1830-present), immigration and identity in contemporary France, and war commemoration. Publications include 'Contesting Indochina' monograph analyzing competing narratives of decolonization.
