Lígia Monteiro is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Social and Organizational Psychology (ECSH) at ISCTE- University Institute of Lisbon. She is an integrated researcher at CIS-Iscte - Center for Social Research and Intervention, focusing on the Community, Education and Development research group. Her academic qualifications include a PhD in Psychology from the New University of Lisbon and ISPA-IU (2008), followed by postdoctoral research at Auburn University (2010) and another postdoctoral fellowship in Portugal (2012).
Her research focuses on parenting behaviors, family dynamics, and their impact on children’s socio-emotional development during early childhood. She has contributed to peer-reviewed journals and authored book chapters/books in her field. Monteiro holds significant academic administrative roles, including Director of the Master’s program in Community Psychology, Protection of Children and Young People at Risk, and various coordination roles in undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
She actively participates in academic governance through positions such as Member of the Scientific Committee and Pedagogical Commission. Her work emphasizes applied research in community and developmental psychology, bridging theoretical insights with practical interventions in education and child welfare.
