معرفی
Léa Maitre is an Assistant Research Professor at ISGlobal, where she coordinates the Exposome Hub initiative. Her work focuses on promoting innovation, collaboration, and communication in exposome research. She has held roles in European projects including scientific coordination in the HELIX project (2013–2018), task leadership in the ATHLETE project (2020–2024), and WP leadership in the International Human Exposome Network (2024–2026). Her research integrates omics, environmental epidemiology, and toxicology to understand early life environmental influences on health and biological mechanisms.
Education: Léa Maitre completed her Ph.D. and postdoctoral research at Imperial College London, United Kingdom. Her studies emphasized metabolomics and pregnancy outcomes, utilizing NMR spectroscopy and advanced statistical methods in molecular epidemiology.
Research Interests: Léa Maitre’s work centers on applying interdisciplinary approaches to study the exposome’s impact on health. Key areas include the exposome in pregnancy and childhood, metabolomics integration in epidemiological studies, molecular responses to environmental stressors, and the link between the exposome and neurodevelopment/mental health. Her studies often involve multi-omics data and large-scale cohort analyses.
Her recent publications highlight a focus on environmental drivers of childhood health outcomes, including obesity, metabolic dysfunction, and neurodevelopmental effects. She explores how chemical mixtures, air pollution, and social factors influence child health through multi-omics and machine learning approaches.
Scientific Awards: Léa Maitre holds the prestigious Ramon y Cajal fellowship awarded by the Spanish Government (2024–2029).
Advising & Grants: While specific student advisement is not detailed, her leadership in international projects and teaching roles reflect her commitment to advancing exposome research. She coordinates a 5-day online course on Exposome tools as part of the International Summer School on Advanced Methods in Global Health, offered in both English and Spanish.
Labs/Teams: She leads the Exposome Hub initiative at ISGlobal, fostering collaboration in exposome research and organizing events like the Exposome Data Challenge Event, which engaged over 308 participants globally in 2021.
