Lysley Tenorio is an Associate Professor in the Department of The Writing Seminars at Johns Hopkins University, affiliated with the Krieger School of Arts & Sciences. He holds office at Gilman 78 and offers weekly office hours on Wednesdays from 12:00–2:00 pm.
His research and creative work focus on themes of cultural identity, immigration, and storytelling through fiction. He has been awarded prestigious fellowships including the Guggenheim Fellowship, Whiting Award, and Rome Prize. His works include Monstress (named a Book of the Year by The San Francisco Chronicle) and The Son of Good Fortune (winner of the New American Voices Award).
His writing has been published in prominent outlets such as The Atlantic, Ploughshares, Zoetrope: All-Story, and The New York Times, and has been adapted for stage productions in San Francisco and New York City. His grants include support from the National Endowment for the Arts, Bogliasco Foundation, Radcliffe Institute at Harvard, and the Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center.
