Lynsey James holds the position of University Teacher and Practical Lead for Anatomy, Nutrition, and Physiology at Loughborough University. She has a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science (University of Birmingham, 2006) and an MSc in Exercise Physiology (Loughborough University, post-2006). She completed a part-time PhD in 2021 on Omega-3, Sports Performance, and Recovery. Her career includes applied sports science roles in professional football, rugby, and endurance sports, alongside teaching roles at Coventry University. She returned to Loughborough in 2013 as a Technical Tutor in Exercise Physiology and became a Fellow of the Higher Education Authority.
Her research focuses on nutrition, exercise physiology, and the epigenetic impacts of exercise, particularly exploring omega-3 supplementation’s effects on recovery and performance. She teaches lab-based modules in physiology and nutrition across undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Her recent publications highlight work on smoking’s appetite effects, DNA methylation changes with exercise, and fatty acid supplementation efficacy.
