Lynnette Richards is an Assistant Professor (Teaching Focused) in the Department of Applied Linguistics at the University of Warwick. She has extensive experience in ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) settings, including language schools in Mexico, Spain, and Germany, as well as UK further education colleges and universities. Since 1998, she has contributed to undergraduate, postgraduate, and commercial programs at Warwick, leading modules in TESOL and applied linguistics. Her current work focuses on helping students develop their academic voice through participatory research methods.
Her research interests include cross-cultural approaches to EAP, language teacher education, and the integration of intercultural communication in academic settings. She has developed and delivered courses in TEAP (Teaching English for Academic Purposes) and collaborates on projects supported by organizations like the British Council, such as a 2016–2018 initiative on video-based language teacher education.
Dr. Richards has held roles as a course tutor, lead educator, and materials developer, emphasizing practical pedagogical strategies. Her professional activities span materials design, curriculum development, and innovative teaching methodologies aimed at enhancing student confidence in academic communication.
